Create static Database Publishing designs directly in a layout application such as VivaDesigner or InDesign. Or choose a Database Publishing Edition that also lets you create static and dynamic designs with far more capabilities.
VivaDesigner, short “VD”, or InDesign, short “ID”, are not a regular Database Publishing edition, but you can convert your design in a Database Publishing “Creative Publishing” template/form in a few minutes. Simply replace your text with freely definable names for variables and then convert the document fully automatically into a database publishing form for your website or web application.
With the Database Publishing Edition “Easy Publishing”, short “EP”, you can fill any design with data by drag & drop. Simply create a design template and assign variables. Then drag and drop text and images from the data source onto the page. This edition is great for very flexible designs that are created semi-automatically and visually decide what data to place where.
With the Database Publishing Edition “Creative Publishing”, short “CP”, you create design templates/forms with all the freedom of a layout program. In these templates, text and image objects as well as codes can be filled with content from the data source semi-automatically on the desktop or fully automatically via a server. “CP” templates/forms are what we call “static” templates, because the objects have a fixed position, height and width, just like in a layout program, and a template always describes a whole page. This output is very suitable for relatively simple designs like business papers, cards, posters etc..
With the Database Publishing Edition “Intelligent Publishing”, in short “IP”, you create highly dynamic design templates. In these templates, text, image, table objects as well as codes or diagrams can be filled with content from the data source semi-automatically on the desktop or fully automatically via a server. We call “IP” templates/forms “dynamic” templates, because the objects can have a predefined or variable height, width and position and a template can also describe only a part of a page. This output is very suitable for complex simple designs like catalogs, price lists, packaging, reports, brochures, etc.
With the Database Publishing Edition “Creative/Intelligent Publishing”, in short “CP/IP”, you can combine both editions in one license.
This table compares the features of the different database publishing editions.
