VivaDesigner Server

What is the VivaDesigner Server?

The “VivaDesigner Server” (VDS) is a server technology which the typesetting and layout program VivaDesigner can be used in a browser, whereby neither JAVA nor Flash nor any Plug-in is needed. The only pre-requisite is an HTML5 compatible browser*. Since for communication with the “VivaDesigner Server” just standard ports (Port 80 or Port 443 with SSL) are used, the software can in almost all cases be used by every computer, even by corporate computers with appropriate restrictions.

With the “VivaDesigner Server”, suppliers of Internet shops, CMS, PIM, CRM, ERP systems or Asset Management Software can offer their customers tailor-made solutions that in the realms of layout and typography go far beyond the functionality and capability of HTML, Flash and JAVA applications. With the combination of Desktop and/or Web, completely new processes of customer communication can be created.

The days are gone in which the corporate font had to be installed on every computer and you had to work with software that allowed only a limited font range. In many cases, all the fonts required can be embedded in the documents, so that often no installation is necessary.

    With VivaDesigner, you edit text in every language in the world, including Asian and Middle-Eastern languages. Furthermore, all VIVA programs have a multilingual user interface in many languages, which may be changed at will.
  • Support for Mobile Publishing
    You can even use the “VivaDesigner Web Edition” in a rudimentary way on mobile devices such as Tablets or Smartphones. VIVA will be extending this functionality in the future.

    Many users of “Web-to-Print” solutions have to construct their documents twice: Once in the layout program and a special Template Editor. With the VIVA technology this is no longer necessary.

    As a graphic designer or a printer, you can protect your documents and even individual layers from third-party access with a personalized password. In this way, the user can only make changes according to your wishes. Without the password, no-one can edit or print the document.

    With VivaDesigner you define whether a user can use the documents locally or just open them in a network or the Internet. You can define how the documents are returned to you fully automatically or are saved in a network or the Internet.

    Due to the compatibility with comparable layout programs, professionals will soon find their way without any major training. If you limit the functionality of the program with access rights, beginners too will not need to learn any new software. In this case, general knowledge of word processing will be sufficient, even for complex layouts.
  • Optional editing system
    If the possibilities provided by access rights are not sufficient for you and several users are to work on a document simultaneously, you can extend VivaDesigner to make a complete editing system.
  • Optional Database Publishing
    If the possibilities provided in the manual creation of documents are not sufficient for you, you can extend VivaDesigner into a “Database Publishing” application and automatically or semi-automatically produce catalogs or price lists based on a database.
  • Optional publishing server
    If the possibilities of “Database Publishing” are not sufficient, you can use VivaDesigner in a server version to produce catalogs, packaging, posters or price lists fully automatically from SAP, a database or a Website.
  • Simple Integration
    VIVA is the perfect tool for software developers, who want to extend their application with publishing functions.
  • License model

    The license model for the “VivaDesigner-Server” relates to a maximum number of users (Instances) with simultaneous access to the server (“Concurrent User Model”). The server registers the number of instances applied and provides each registered user with access to the application. If all the instances are in use, an additional user must wait until another user has closed his instance and thus this instance has become available. Since the usage behavior, i.e. the number of instances required for VivaDesigner, cannot always be exactly predetermined, VIVA offers the so-called “Plus Package”.     Price model

    The “VivaDesigner Server” is a completely open and transparent standard software solution that can be configured and extended according to your individual requirements. Compared to other vendors’ products you can either rent or even buy the “VivaDesigner Server”. Whether you rent or buy the software, you can decide for yourself how/where you want to run the “VivaDesigner Server”. You can host the “VivaDesigner Server” on your computers, in your data center or in our data center.

    Thus the following combinations are possible:

  • BUY and host on customer’s premises or in any data center
  • BUY and host with VIVA.
  • RENT and host on customer’s premises or in any data center
  • RENT and host with VIVA
  • If the software should be run on your computers, the initial installation will be carried out remotely by our technicians. As with all Viva servers, the execution of a service and support contract is obligatory. The annual service and support charge is 16% of the purchase price.

    Sie erreichen den Schiffsanleger in St. Goar sowohl über die A 61, als auch über die B 9 am Rhein entlang. Von der östlichen Rheinseite (B 42) kommend, können Sie alternativ die Fähre zwischen St. Goar und St. Goarshausen nehmen.

    Es sind entsprechende Parkplätze vorhanden. Es gibt keinen Dresscode. Kommen Sie bitte in legerer Kleidung. Allen Gästen steht auch das freie Oberdeck zur Verfügung. Das Rauchen ist nur auf dem Oberdeck gestattet.

    In many cases, customers have problems imagining how a computer can produce a catalog or packaging fully automatically. Sometimes a competing supplier promisedmuch but delivered little. A concrete example: For such cases, VIVA offers a »Proof of Concept« (POC). Within the framework of a prototype it is proven that the software can fulfil its task. If the software is unsuccessful, the customer does not pay a cent. If the solution works, VIVA includes the cost in the project pricing. Thus the customers buys a solution that is tailor-made to function for his specific application. This achieves security and trust.

    Project implementation and management

    Depending on the order, VIVA takes over the complete management of the project and the responsibility for its implementation. Here we help corporations and service providers to enter easily into an efficient technology showing the way forward. A concrete example: A service provider and his customer wanted to implement the complete VIVA technology and to replace all existing systems in just three months. For time reasons, VIVA took over the project management, built up all the databases, created the templates for the Publishing Server and in the meantime trained the service provider and his customer within the framework of the project implementation (Keyword: »Training on the job«). After all work was completed the service provider and his customer were able to further develop the templates and the databases.

    VIVA offers customers who are worried about large investments or whose resources do not allow a fast project turnover to supply the software within a hosting framework. A concrete example: A corporation wanted to introduce the VIVA publishing technology, but had no resources free in his IT department to manage the project or provide support. The solution: VIVA set up the appropriate servers in its computer centre and offered the service in the form of an ASP/Hosting agreement. The customer received FTP access to the server so that he could organise his data.

    A customer had over 30,000 images, of which a great many had the same content, but had been saved with another name.     A customer needed to be able to combine his images in a specific order. For this, VIVA developed the universal tool »VivaGate Composer«, with which any elements can be laid out according to requirements.

    Developer support

    All VIVA products possess an open interface which may be used by third party suppliers and software developers. VIVA offers software developers who want to integrate VIVA products in their developments or organisations an extensive developer service. This includes the supply of the source code for different applications. A concrete example: A customer wanted to combine his product database with the VIVA Publishing Server to produce catalogs. VIVA provided the customer’s development department with suitable examples in source code text that the developer then only needed to integrate into his application. Within one day, the control of the VIVA Publishing Server was integrated into the customer’s database application.
