VivaDesigner Publishing Solutions for the Media Branch

“For us VivaDesigner is the best layout program for Web and desktop that has ever been developed for printers, typesetting and media service providers and agencies!”

Why? Because VivaDesigner is the world’s only layout application that protects your investment in customers, design and documents in a lasting way:

  • Hardly any other layout program protects the investment made by service providers and corporations in the design and the documents in such a lasting way from misuse or incorrect usage by third parties/customers!
  • Hardly any other layout program enables the establishment of such a high customer loyalty!
  • Hardly any other layout program offers more possibilities in the creation of workflows between service providers and customers!
  • Hardly any other layout program is available both on the desktop and in the Web!
  • Hardly any other layout program offers a better data exchange with competitors’ products!

Do you still work with traditional layout programs, word processing, PDF, E-Mail, FTP, CMS, publishing systems, photo book or “Web-to-Print” software to organize you publishing processes?

If you want to exchange designs with your customers today, you have to put in a lot of effort:

  • You supply the appropriate PDFs either by fax, post or email, on which the customer can “comment”.
  • Your customer supplies you with “MS-Word®” or “MS-PowerPoint®” files as templates, which you must rebuild from scratch in your layout program.
  • You supply a Web-to-Print software to your customer that is too expensive, and whose templates must be built from scratch and are only suitable for just a few print products.
  • You would never dream of giving your customer an open document! If you did, you would have to fear for your work.

With “Distributed Publishing” VivaDesigner offers you a completely new, simple, safe and above all affordable solution for communication between media service providers and your customers or colleagues!

What is “Distributed Publishing”?

“Distributed Publishing” is a new technology with which media service providers prepare and provide an open layout document to their customers, colleagues or employees. The editing rights that a user may have can be defined individually for every document.

When do I need VivaDesigner with “Distributed Publishing”?

You need “Distributed Publishing” as an optional extension to or replacement for your layout program if according to your user group you can answer one or two of the goals listed below with Yes.

Goals for designers/service providers:

  • You receive from your customers/colleagues text or word processor files, PDFs, faxes, E-Mails and want to put an end to this flood of data and manual tasks?
  • You want to save the costs for an editing system or a “Web-to-Print” solution, because these are too expensive and/or are not suited for small print runs?
  • You want to keep full control over the document even with small print runs and still offer your customers extensive freedom of content?
  • You want to ensure that the customer does not move to other suppliers with your templates?
  • You need a solution that gives your customers and their partners world-wide the possibility of translating into ALL languages without changing your design?
  • You want ONE software without any language exceptions? For Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Hebrew and Arabic?

Goals for companies/end users:

  • You want to enter your text straight into the final layout, instead of writing in text or word processing programs or E-Mail programs?
  • You want to define image cropping and image size directly in the final layout, instead of describing your requirements in great detail to the graphic designer?
  • You don’t want to make proofing corrections in PDFs or send text by E-Mail any more?
  • You want a user interface with a genuine print preview (WYSIWYG) that is simpler than “MS-Word®”?
  • You don’t want to be obliged to buy the layout software of your graphic designer including all updates and upgrades?
  • You don’t want to exchange data constantly with the graphic designer until both parties are satisfied?
  • You want to provide your overseas partners in the Middle East or Asia with documents in your CD and the relevant translations? You want ONE software for all languages, NO exceptions?

Innovative Workflows and Processes with VivaDesigner (Desktop and Web Edition)

Experience with our innovations a new dimension in designing and optimizing the marketing, publishing and communication workflows and processes between you and your customers:

Innovation 1: Protection
For the first time you can with just a few mouse clicks provide complex documents to users who only have basic “MS-Word®” or photo book knowledge and define for each document which editing and output rights these users should have. Here it is NOT necessary to change the document structure or make complicated conversions!

Innovation 2: Functionality
Compared to other programs, VivaDesigner offers functions that considerably simplify smooth transfer and processing of documents, and above all dramatically reduce the effort involved for the service provider.

Step 1: Structuring and preparation of documents

  • You can import ready-made layouts directly from InDesign® or XPress®, or you create your documents in the desktop or Web edition of VivaDesigner.
  • You can optionally embed all fonts used in the document so that a font installation of the customer’s computer is unnecessary.
  • You can optionally embed all used and newly imported images in the document.
  • You can optionally define access rights to limit the customer’s editing possibilities.
  • You can optionally predefine parameters for further editing.
  • With notes you can provide non-printable information and tips for other users.
  • You can optionally define tasks so that several users can work simultaneously on one document.

Step 2: Document supply

  • You can send documents by E-Mail or provide them as downloads from your Website or shop.
  • With the definition of virtual drives in VivaDesigner, you can force your customer to open the document from your database or via the Internet.

Step 3: Editing by the customer

  • The customer sees only the program functions that you have released to him in this document.
  • The customer only has access to the layers that you have released to him in this document.
  • The customer only has access to the text, picture and table objects that you have released to him in this document.
  • The customer sees the program functions in his language. This also goes for all standard colors and even for style sheets!
  • With the visual Preflight, the customer can recognise immediately whether images are printable or not.
  • Using change tracking you can establish who has made which changes to text in a document.
  • With notes you can provide non-printable information and tips for other users in text and objects.

Step 4: Transfer to service provider (desktop version)

  • The customer can send the documents to the service provider fully automatically from VivaDesigner without needing an FTP or E-Mail program.
  • You can ensure that transferred documents are displayed directly in the shopping basket of your Web shop with a document preview.
  • With the optional definition of virtual drives in VivaDesigner, you can force your customer to save the document directly in your database or in the Internet.

Innovation 3: All Platforms
For the first time, you can edit documents both on the desktop on Windows, Mac OS X and even Linux as well as in the browser LOSS-FREE and WITH ALMOST THE SAME FUNCTIONALITY. NO font installation, NO Browser PlugIns, NO Java and NO Flash are needed!

  • You can construct pure desktop workflow processes for your customers, where both you and your customers create and/or edit the documents on a desktop.
  • You can construct mixed “Desktop/Web” workflows/processes for your customers, where you create the documents on a desktop or in the Web, and your customers create or edit documents exclusively in the Web.
  • You can construct mixed “Web/Desktop” workflows/processes for your customers, where you create the documents on a desktop or in the Web, and your customers create or edit documents exclusively in the Web.

Innovation 4: Variable costs

VivaDesigner opens completely new possibilities in the distribution of documents. Taking into account your own concepts and customer requirements as well as the financial side, you can define for yourself how the workflow/process should be structured:

  • You can decide yourself whether your customers should work with a free of charge or licensed version of VivaDesigner.
  • As a service provider you can buy “Floating Licenses” for the desktop that you can give to other customers successively if the functionality of the free of charge version is not sufficient.
  • Your customers can buy or rent their own licensed versions directly from us or through your company.
  • You can also opt to make the VivaDesigner Web Edition available to your customers.

[bubble class=”viva-bubble-high” author=”Walter”]I just downloaded and tested the newest Free Edition of VivaDesigner (on Ubuntu 9.04) and am really delighted with the program. [bubble class=”viva-bubble-high” author=”James”]I have just downloaded your VivaDesigner program for Linux and am very impressed with it. I am looking for a replacement for MS Publisher [as I am trying to move over to Linux permanently] and it is looking like this may be it.[/bubble]
[bubble class=”viva-bubble-high” author=”Axel”]I just made some extensive tests on the Free Edition yesterday. I can hardly tell you how delighted I am with it. I had actually given up looking for a modern replacement for XPress 3.3 or PageMaker 6.0. Then I remembered “VivaPress” and found your program in the Web. VivaDesigner reveals itself as so much more than a “modern replacement” for the above applications. Just what I was looking for: Full Unicode support, elegant (almost minimalistic) user interface and everything your heart desires in one logical structure, which today has become less and less frequent. A joy to use![/bubble]
[bubble class=”viva-bubble-standard” author=”Frank”]I am very pleased how quickly I could find my way around the program as a beginner, thanks to the good documented introduction.[/bubble]
[bubble class=”viva-bubble-standard” author=”Olaf”]Many thanks for the extremely quick and friendly assistance. This is not the case everywhere. I will be sure to recommend you![/bubble]

[bubble class=”viva-bubble-standard” author=”Claus”]Many thanks for the super software!!!!![/bubble]
[bubble class=”viva-bubble-standard” author=”Julia”]Last weekend I downloaded VivaDesigner – the free edition – to test the program. I like it very much. easy to use, without a mass of frills and furbelows (“nick-nack”), easy for beginners to understand.[/bubble]
